Shiso and Green Tea Ice Pops

Ingredients
  • 3 1/2 cups hot water
  • 4 green tea bags
  • 5 or 6 fresh shiso leaves, chopped
  • honey or maple syrup, to taste (I used 3 tablespoons of honey and a few drops of stevia)
  • 2 fresh shiso leaves, cut into fine ribbons (optional)
Instructions
  1. Pour the hot water into a bowl and stir in the green tea bags, chopped shiso leaves, and honey. Let this steep for ten minutes, then remove and discard the solids. If you want the fresh leaves in the pops as a garnish, add a few ribbons into each ice pop mold. Fill each mold almost to the top, and insert your sticks. Freeze overnight, or until solid.
  2. To release the pops, run the molds under hot water for a few minutes to loosen them up. This makes about ten standard-sized ice pops. Note: soaking your wooden ice pop sticks will keep them from floating up in the molds.
